Here you get the chance to learn about tips & tricks to set up your digital spaces and make them more connective, engaging, user-friendly and meaningful, especially in youth work.

Do not forget to check out the brief glossary we put together for you :)
Let’s get started!

First of all, check out the handbook "Fantastic Digital Spaces and How to Create them? How to Foster Meaningful Experiences while Working with Groups in a Digital Space?". Scroll down the page untill you reach the resources section: you will find a link to access the Creative Digital Spaces website and the handbook itself.

Here's a cool exemple of how you can creatively use digital tools to assess the well-being of your participants, design an activity for reflection or just focus on bringing people together to connect with one another:

“How do we introduce sharing vulnerability in meetings with young people? In an online youth encounter, we delivered an activity by choosing one fear and transforming it through a >>Riddikulus<< spell into a meme we shared” - from the handbook.

When you are done exploring the handbook, watch the video we created for you!

GLOSSARY

  • Youth work:
“Youth work is a broad term covering a large scope of activities of a social, cultural, educational or political nature both by, with and for young people. Increasingly, such activities also include sport and services for young people. Youth work belongs to the area of ‘out-of-school' education, as well as specific leisure time activities managed by professional or voluntary youth workers and youth leaders and is based on non-formal learning processes and on voluntary participation” (source: https://pjp-eu.coe.int/en/web/youth-partnership/youth-work1)
  • Digital space:
“Digital spaces can be defined as the digital “locales” where young people gather, with digital places giving meaning, memories and feelings. Spaces provide the arena or setting, whilst places represent attachment, belonging and significance” (source: https://pjp-eu.coe.int/en/web/coyote-magazine/digital-tools-spaces-and-places)
  • NON-FORMAL EDUCATION (NFE):
“Non-formal education refers to planned, structured programmes and processes of personal and social education for young people designed to improve a range of skills and competences, outside the formal educational curriculum” (source: https://www.coe.int/en/web/european-youth-foundation/definitions#:~:text=Non%2Dformal%20education%20refers%20to,outside%20the%20formal%20educational%20curriculum)
  • Method:
“A method is an activity about a specific topic, where participants acquire
knowledge, skills and attitudes through active participation. The best methods impact our thoughts, emotions and behavior” (source: https://generationeurope.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/GenE-Methodbox.pdf)
  • Artificial intelligence (AI):
“the ability of a digital computer or computer-controlled robot to perform tasks commonly associated with intelligent beings. The term is frequently applied to the project of developing systems endowed with the intellectual processes characteristic of humans, such as the ability to reason, discover meaning, generalize, or learn from past experience. ” (source: https://www.britannica.com/technology/artificial-intelligence)
  • Error 404 (Page Not Found):
"A 404 error is an HTTP status code that means the page you were trying to reach on a website couldn't be found on their server. To be clear, the error indicates that while the server itself is reachable, the specific page showing the error is not." (source: https://www.lifewire.com/404-not-found-error-explained-2622936)
